Looking for the perfect place to stay in downtown Montreal? From beautifully renovated rooms and incredible city views to a relaxing indoor pool, an outdoor terrace and one of the most memorable brunch experiences, here's why Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel deserves a spot on your travel list.
Montreal has always been one of my favourite Canadian cities to visit. Between the incredible food scene, beautiful architecture, vibrant neighbourhoods and endless things to explore, there's something about this city that keeps me wanting to come back. And while there are plenty of amazing hotels to choose from, finding one that offers the perfect combination of location, comfort, amenities and great food can really make a difference in your overall experience.
On my recent trip to Montreal, I had the opportunity to spend two nights at Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel, located right in the heart of downtown. After spending a couple of days exploring the property and everything it has to offer, I can confidently say that this hotel has so much more going for it than just a comfortable place to sleep.
From its beautifully renovated rooms and incredible 37th floor Sheraton Club Lounge to a hidden outdoor terrace and a seriously impressive brunch at Stanley, there are plenty of reasons to make this your home base the next time you're visiting Montreal.
Here's a closer look at my stay and why I think Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel is worth checking out.
A Prime Downtown Montreal Location That Makes Exploring Easy
One of the biggest advantages of staying at Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel is undoubtedly its location. Situated at 1201 Boulevard René Lévesque West, the hotel puts you right in the middle of downtown Montreal, making it incredibly convenient to explore the city without spending your entire trip travelling from one attraction to another.
For anyone visiting Montreal for the first time, or even returning for another weekend getaway, location is everything. The hotel is just steps away from the famous Bell Centre, making it an excellent choice if you're in town to catch a Montreal Canadiens hockey game, concert or major event. In fact, if you're planning a trip around an event at the Bell Centre, staying here is practically a no brainer.
You're also conveniently located near Sainte Catherine Street, one of Montreal's most popular shopping and entertainment destinations, where you'll find everything from major retailers and local boutiques to restaurants, cafés and nightlife. Other nearby attractions include the Underground City, the cultural attractions around Place des Arts and the historic streets of Old Montreal, which are well worth exploring during your visit.
As someone who loves travelling to discover new restaurants and hidden food gems, having a centrally located hotel makes exploring so much easier. Whether you're heading out for a morning coffee, discovering a new restaurant or enjoying a night out, it's nice knowing that your hotel is conveniently situated in the heart of the action. And when you've spent an entire day walking around the city, being able to return to a comfortable hotel without a complicated commute is definitely something you'll appreciate.
Modern, Beautifully Renovated Rooms Designed for Comfort
After a long day of travelling or exploring a new city, there's nothing better than returning to a clean, modern and comfortable hotel room. Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel has undergone an extensive transformation, refreshing all 825 guestrooms and suites along with its public spaces to create a more contemporary experience for today's travellers. The renovations have given the hotel a modern and sophisticated feel while still maintaining that welcoming atmosphere you want when you're away from home. The rooms feature a contemporary design with comfortable bedding, thoughtful furnishings and a clean aesthetic that makes the space feel inviting without being overly complicated.
Depending on your room category, you can also enjoy impressive views overlooking downtown Montreal, which is always a nice bonus when staying in the city. I particularly appreciate hotel rooms that are designed with both relaxation and functionality in mind. Whether you're travelling for a weekend getaway, working remotely or simply need somewhere comfortable to recharge between adventures, the rooms here are designed to accommodate different types of travellers.
You'll also find convenient features such as large televisions and practical workspaces, making it easy to unwind at the end of the day or catch up on a few things before heading back out. During my two night stay, having a modern and comfortable room to return to was an important part of the overall experience. Sometimes the smallest details make the biggest difference, and a clean, thoughtfully designed room is always high on my list when choosing where to stay.
Take Your Stay to Another Level With Sheraton Club Lounge Access
If there's one upgrade I would seriously recommend considering when booking your stay, it's access to the Sheraton Club Lounge. Located on the hotel's 37th floor, this exclusive lounge offers some incredible panoramic views of Montreal's skyline, along with a number of additional perks that can really elevate your hotel experience.
The space itself is designed to be a comfortable retreat above the busy streets of downtown Montreal. With plenty of seating, beautiful city views and a more relaxed atmosphere, it's a great place to start your morning, catch up on some work or simply take a break from exploring. But what really makes Sheraton Club access worthwhile are the food and beverage benefits.
Start Your Morning With Complimentary Breakfast
One of the best perks of Sheraton Club access is the complimentary breakfast served in the lounge. Rather than having to immediately head out in search of somewhere to eat, you can enjoy a convenient morning meal right at the hotel while taking in the incredible views from the 37th floor. It's an especially nice benefit if you're travelling with family, have a busy sightseeing itinerary or simply want a relaxed start to your day.
For me, breakfast is an important part of any hotel stay, and having it included with lounge access adds a lot of convenience. Plus, there's something special about starting your morning high above the city with a beautiful skyline view.
Evening Appetizers and Refreshments Throughout the Day
The perks don't end after breakfast. Sheraton Club guests can also enjoy evening hors d'oeuvres and refreshments throughout the day, making the lounge a great place to stop by before heading out for dinner or winding down after a busy afternoon.Whether you're looking for a light bite, a refreshing drink or simply somewhere peaceful to sit and relax, having access to a dedicated lounge adds another layer of comfort to your stay. The lounge also offers WiFi and comfortable seating, making it a useful space for business travellers or anyone who needs to get a little work done.
Who gets Sheraton Club access?
Guests can enjoy the lounge by booking an eligible Club Level room or suite. Complimentary access is also offered to qualifying Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite and Ambassador Elite members, with applicable guest privileges. If you're someone who enjoys a good hotel breakfast, extra refreshments and beautiful views, I think upgrading to Sheraton Club access is definitely worth considering.
Relax and Recharge at the Indoor Pool, Hot Tub and Sauna
One thing I always appreciate about a great hotel is having amenities that make you want to spend time at the property instead of simply using it as somewhere to sleep. And Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel certainly delivers in that department. The hotel's Wellness Center features a heated indoor swimming pool, hot tub and saunas, providing the perfect opportunity to relax and recharge during your stay. Whether you're starting your morning with a refreshing swim or unwinding after a full day of sightseeing, having these facilities available is a fantastic bonus.
The indoor pool is particularly appealing because you can enjoy it regardless of the weather outside, which is especially important in a city like Montreal where temperatures can vary dramatically throughout the year. And after spending hours walking around downtown, soaking in the hot tub or enjoying some time in the sauna sounds like a pretty great way to end the day. It's also a wonderful amenity for families travelling with children, couples enjoying a weekend getaway or anyone who simply wants a little downtime during their trip. With so much to see and do in Montreal, it's easy to fill every minute of your itinerary. But sometimes, taking an hour to relax at the hotel can be just as enjoyable.
A Fully Equipped 24 Hour Gym for Fitness Lovers
For those who like to maintain their fitness routine while travelling, Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel also offers a complimentary fitness centre that's open 24 hours a day. This is a particularly convenient feature because you're not restricted to specific operating hours. Whether you prefer getting in an early morning workout before breakfast or squeezing in some exercise after a long day exploring the city, the gym is available whenever it works best for your schedule. The fitness centre offers a selection of cardio and strength training equipment, including treadmills, exercise bikes, elliptical machines, free weights and weight machines. Having access to a proper fitness facility is always a nice bonus, especially for travellers staying for several nights or those who don't want to interrupt their regular workout routine. And considering how much incredible food there is to eat in Montreal, having a gym available around the clock certainly doesn't hurt!
Discover the Hidden Outdoor Terrace on the Sixth Floor
One of the more unexpected features of Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel is its beautiful outdoor terrace located on the sixth floor. In the middle of a busy downtown setting, finding a peaceful outdoor space where you can relax and enjoy some fresh air feels like discovering a little hidden gem. The terrace offers a refreshing change of scenery from the hustle and bustle of the city below, with comfortable seating areas and floating chairs that invite you to sit back and unwind.
It's the kind of space where you can enjoy a quiet moment with a coffee, catch up on some reading or simply take a break between activities. But there's also a playful side to this outdoor retreat. Guests can enjoy activities such as ping pong, cornhole and axe throwing, making it a fun spot to spend some time with friends or family. There's even a communal library if you'd rather settle into one of the comfortable chairs with a good book.
For those who enjoy dining outdoors, the hotel also offers mobile dining options, allowing guests to enjoy food in the fresh air. I love when hotels incorporate outdoor spaces like this, especially in a downtown environment where green space and quiet retreats aren't always easy to come by. Instead of feeling like you're constantly surrounded by traffic and tall buildings, the terrace gives you a chance to slow down and enjoy a different side of the hotel. It's definitely a feature worth checking out during your stay, particularly when the weather is nice.
A Foodie's Paradise: Dining at Stanley Restaurant
Now, as The Everyday Foodie, you already know that one of the most important parts of any hotel stay for me is the food. And thankfully, you don't have to venture very far from your room to find something delicious at Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel. Located right in the hotel's beautiful lobby, Stanley is a vibrant restaurant and bar that brings together great food, cocktails and the lively social atmosphere that Montreal is known for.
Named in a nod to the city's deep connection with hockey, Stanley offers a welcoming space where hotel guests and locals can come together for everything from a casual breakfast or lunch to dinner and drinks. The restaurant's design blends naturally with the hotel's modern lobby, creating an inviting atmosphere that feels energetic without being overwhelming. It's the kind of place where you can comfortably enjoy a meal, meet friends for cocktails or relax after a long day exploring the city.
Stanley's menu features locally inspired dishes alongside international influences, with a focus on flavour, presentation and ingredients. But if there's one dining experience you absolutely need to make time for during your stay, it's their weekend brunch.
The Must Order Brunch Towers at Stanley
If you love brunch as much as I do, you're going to want to pay attention to this one.
Stanley's weekend brunch is not your average hotel breakfast, and their Build Your Own Brunch Tower is easily one of the most exciting things on the menu. Instead of ordering a traditional breakfast plate, you can create your own beautifully presented brunch tower by choosing three selections from a variety of sweet and savoury options.
Some of the choices include:
House smoked salmon served with condiments and a round croissant
A selection of cold cuts and accompaniments
Assorted cheeses with condiments
Fresh seasonal fruits
French toast served with sweet clover whipped cream
The result is a visually impressive tower filled with delicious bites that are perfect for sharing. Not only does it make for a fantastic brunch experience, but it's also incredibly photogenic, which is always a bonus in my books! I particularly love the concept because it allows you to enjoy a variety of different flavours and textures in one meal instead of committing to just one dish.
Whether you're craving something savoury, something sweet or a little bit of everything, the brunch tower gives you the best of both worlds. It's also a great option if you're travelling with your partner or a group of friends and want something fun and interactive to enjoy together.
Beyond the towers, Stanley also offers a tempting selection of brunch dishes, including Smoked Salmon Benedict, indulgent French Toast and other creative breakfast favourites. To make the experience even more memorable, Stanley's weekend brunch features live DJ entertainment, bringing an energetic atmosphere to the dining room. Think delicious food, great music, cocktails and the perfect excuse to slow down and enjoy a leisurely weekend morning.
Stanley's weekend brunch is offered Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
If you're planning a weekend stay at Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel, I would highly recommend making time for brunch here.
And trust me, order the tower!
A Hotel With a Fascinating Connection to Montreal's Hockey History
Here's something you might not know about Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel. The hotel stands on a site with a remarkable connection to the history of hockey. Long before the hotel was built, this location was home to the historic Victoria Skating Rink, an important landmark in the development of the sport.
In 1875, the rink hosted what is widely recognized as the first recorded organized indoor hockey game, an event that helped shape the modern game we know today. Nearly two decades later, in 1894, the rink also hosted the first Stanley Cup championship final. For a city that lives and breathes hockey, that's a pretty incredible piece of history. And with the Bell Centre located just steps away, the hotel's connection to Montreal's hockey culture feels especially fitting. It's a fascinating detail that adds another layer of character to the property, particularly for sports fans visiting the city. Whether you're staying in Montreal for a Canadiens game or simply love discovering the stories behind historic landmarks, it's a fun piece of local history worth knowing.
Why Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel Is Perfect for a Weekend Getaway
After spending two nights at Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel, what stood out to me most was how well the property balances convenience, comfort and experiences. There are plenty of hotels that offer comfortable rooms, and plenty that have a great location. But finding one that combines both with excellent amenities, impressive dining options and spaces where you actually want to spend time makes the experience that much better.
For couples planning a romantic weekend, the modern rooms, beautiful city views, outdoor terrace and dining at Stanley create a great setting for a relaxing getaway. For families, having access to an indoor swimming pool, spacious accommodation options and a central location close to popular attractions makes travelling much more convenient. Business travellers will appreciate the comfortable workspaces, 24 hour fitness centre and Sheraton Club Lounge, while hockey fans and concertgoers will love being so close to the Bell Centre. And for fellow food lovers like myself, having Stanley right downstairs, especially those incredible brunch towers, is a major selling point.
What I also appreciate is that you don't necessarily need to leave the hotel to have an enjoyable day. You could easily start your morning with breakfast and skyline views at the Sheraton Club Lounge, get in a workout or swim, relax on the outdoor terrace and finish the day with a delicious meal at Stanley. Of course, with Montreal's incredible restaurants, attractions and neighbourhoods just outside your doorstep, you'll probably want to head out and explore too!
Final Thoughts: Is Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel Worth Staying At?
Absolutely.
My two night stay at Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel was a wonderful opportunity to experience what this downtown property has to offer, and I can see why it's such a convenient choice for visitors to the city. From the beautifully renovated rooms and central location to the indoor pool, 24 hour gym and peaceful outdoor terrace, the hotel offers a well rounded experience that caters to a variety of travellers.
The Sheraton Club Lounge is another standout feature, especially if you appreciate complimentary breakfast, evening refreshments and incredible views of the Montreal skyline. And of course, I can't finish this review without mentioning Stanley one more time. If you're staying here over the weekend, do yourself a favour and make a reservation for brunch. Those towers alone are worth getting excited about!
Whether you're planning your first trip to Montreal, returning for another foodie adventure or simply looking for a comfortable and conveniently located hotel for your next getaway, Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel is definitely worth adding to your list.
Sometimes a great hotel isn't just about where you sleep. It's about how it enhances your entire travel experience. And after two nights here, I can confidently say that Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel offers a little bit of everything that makes a trip to Montreal memorable.
